Ask your friends to join the fight on climate change

Ivan Frishberg, BarackObama.com
to me

Donna --

Thanks again for joining the fight to combat climate change and protect the environment.

I wanted to give you an update on what happened:

With 53 votes, the Senate narrowly rejected an effort to roll back protections from mercury and other forms of toxic air pollutions. They also were able to block -- but just barely -- an attempt to stop the EPA from limiting the carbon pollution that causes climate change.

That's good news -- but those narrow margins of victory show we have our work cut out for us if we're going to make progress on combating climate change. We're up against interest groups willing to do whatever it takes to stop us.

If we're going to demand better of our representatives in Washington, we'll need to build a grassroots team that can face down the powerful interests.

Forward this email today and ask your friends to join our fight:

Ivan

Tonight: Policy briefing on climate issues

Stephanie Cutter, BarackObama.com
to me

Donna --

In his State of the Union address, President Obama told us: "For the sake of our children and our future, we must do more to combat climate change."

OFA supporters are behind him, 100 percent. That's why this week's policy briefing will be on climate issues, and how we can step up to protect the environment in the coming months.

We'll be joined by special guest Tom Perriello, former Virginia congressman and current president and CEO of the Center for American Progress Action Fund.

You can get all the facts by joining us online tonight, Wednesday, March 27th, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Simply click here to listen in:

A backhanded environmental attack

Ivan Frishberg, BarackObama.com
to me
Donna --

If you care about the environment, you need to know about what's happening in the Senate right now, and you need to act quickly:

A smart budget that funds clean energy investments and measures to combat climate change is about to get stuffed full of anti-environmental amendments until it's barely recognizable.

Or at least that's what some Republican senators are going to try to do.

They'll try to block the EPA's climate change rules, end renewable energy tax credits, and circumvent the State Department's process evaluating the Keystone XL oil pipeline.

This kind of backhanded environmental attack is what's broken in Washington -- powerful special interests are calling the shots right now. If we want to start fixing it, we've all got to stand up and fight back.

With each name, our call for action gets a little louder and our grassroots team gets a little stronger -- add yours today:

Thanks -- and I'll be in touch with more soon.

Donna --

We've got another policy briefing livestream coming up tomorrow, Wednesday, March 20th -- and this week, we're talking about immigration reform. You should be a part of it.

We'll be joined by a special guest: Eliseo Medina, current International Secretary-Treasurer of the SEIU -- the first Mexican-American to sit on its executive board -- and a long-time organizer on immigration.

OFA staff will be on-hand to fill you in on how you can take action on this issue where you live right now.

You're not going to want to miss this conversation. Comprehensive immigration reform is a priority for our organization and for the President -- and the next few months will be critical to getting the job done. This call is a great chance to make sure you know the facts.

Light Speed PC

If you are like most of us, there has been a time or two when your computer just stopped working well. It slowed down, refused to properly start up or shut down properly, and just lost its high performance function. You probably thought that it was time for either a costly repair from a computer technician or to just buy a new one; but in so many cases, all you need is a tune up! Tune ups can-in many cases-clean up junk files, end computer freeze, and optimize a slowed pc at a much quicker pace and less expensive cost; and here’s why.

How we shift America off oil

How we shift America off oil

America's auto industry is in the midst of a change for the better. Right now, car dealers are offering customers twice as many hybrids as they were five years ago and seven times as many cars that can go 40 miles or more on a gallon of gas. Last year, General Motors sold more hybrid cars than ever before and Ford is working hard to keep up with demand for its fuel-efficient vehicles.

That trend is a key example of how innovation helps to drive business success -- and creates jobs for the middle class in America. But it's one thing to make a car more fuel efficient. It's another thing altogether to move cars and trucks off oil entirely.

And that's the next step. Here's how President Obama is proposing to get us there:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/infographic/energy-security-trust

At a time when the sequester is forcing laboratories and science facilities across the country to scale back on their work, we need to keep investing in research.  Because if we can meet this goal, the benefits are clear. We'll help diminish the burden of spiking gas prices. We'll reduce our reliance on foreign oil. And most importantly, the kind of technological breakthroughs the Energy Security Trust will work to produce won't just create jobs -- they could create whole new industries.

So if you think the Energy Security Trust is a good idea, will you share this graphic?

Rep. Matsui will appreciate this

Jon Carson, BarackObama.com

   to me

Donna --

The middle class got hit last Friday, and it didn't have to happen.

Congress failed to compromise -- with some Republicans insisting on protecting tax loopholes for the wealthiest Americans (seriously). Because of it, a series of devastating budget cuts known as the sequester are now in effect.

Americans across the country are feeling the consequences, from teachers to air traffic controllers to parents with kids in Head Start. We're talking about funding for our local fire departments and programs that feed our seniors.

This isn't a game -- and Congress needs to hear it from the people they represent. They can put an end to these cuts right now.

Here's a quick and simple action that you can take right now to send a message that members of Congress -- and everyone else -- can't ignore.

Tweet at Rep. Matsui right now and say you're standing with her in fighting for a balanced approach to the budget, not drastic cuts.

The last time OFA supporters did this, demanding action from lawmakers on gun violence, it got Washington's attention.

Representatives responded with their own tweets of support. News outlets noticed, and reported about it. And thousands of folks who might not have otherwise spoken up got off the sidelines and raised their voices, as well.

Let's keep it up.

Congress can put an end to these disastrous budget cuts at any time -- but they need to feel the pressure to come to the table and find a common-sense solution.

Make your voice heard right now -- send a tweet to your representative and tell them to keep fighting for a balanced plan today:

Thanks for taking action.
